Week 15: The Beginning?

Wow, I can't believe we've reached the end of another semester. I sincerely hope that this not just the end of the class, but the beginning of your new future as a technology using educator!!

Tonight I hope to ensure that everyone is clear on how to get the narratives into TaskStream and that all of yours blogs are sufficiently dialed out!! When your blog is finished, including all artifacts, labels, NETS correlated, etc., then you can submit the Emerging Technology assignment.

Please use the time tonight to get any and all questions answered!!!

This week's question: What technology would you have liked to learn in this class that you didn't learn? What technology do you see yourself using most as an educator?

  1. I still use only the basics on my cell phone; hence I really would have gone into taking pictures with it. Hey, the onus is on me now that I have become a half-way techy. Sorry, Jeff, I still have not converted to the I-MAC - maybe one day when I'm no longer skiddish. Anyway, it is incumbent on me to learn all functions of the cell phone. Honestly speaking,
I will be processing all I have learned in this class for many weeks to come.

As a teacher, I see myself using Power Point slide presentations the most because my students
really get into them. Even when they're drifting off during their mid morning low blood sugar
drop, the transitions and visuals being them back. They enjoy creating Power Points, especially during their autobiographies and senior exhibition assignments. I do, however, plan to use much more Inspiration during pre-writing activities and ultimately have my students create their own bubble clusters.

  2. I think I'll use the google docs and blogging a lot (I've already used them in other classes!) As far as something I wish I had learned, hmm.. Photoshop?

  3. I would have liked to learn on how to hack into my bank account so I could add a few zeros...000,000
Just kidding NSA privacy violaters :) I think I would have liked to learn more about creating an actual website. HTML code and Java script, but it's boring stuff and I was very excited about everything we covered.
I will most likely use imovie the most as an educator. I really enjoy creating movies or clips to keep my kids interested. I plan on using it for youth group a lot :)
Thanks Jeff for a great semester! God bless :)

  4. You've taught me EVERYTHING I need to know, at least in this moment in time. I can see myself using the imovie and newsletter the most. The imovie will be a great way to show what my students have done in the school year...show it at Open House. Thanks for a great semester.

  5. I would love to have learned Photoshop, that's always seemed fun...I hope to incorporate a blog, newsletter and so much more from this class in my classroom one day. You're a great Prof. I am glad I had this class with you... thanks!

  6. I feel liked I learned so much in this class and see myself using the the powerpoint for class lectures and my blog to communicate with my (future) students. I would like to learn photoshop, but I'm good letting all this other stuff absorb into my brain!

  7. II a not sure of any other technology that I may use in my classroom. There has been so much discussed and learned that right now I have no idea if there is something that I would like to learn that I have yet to learn. I think I will use the blog the most, I think it is an outstanding way to keep student, and family caught up and on track.

  8. I think podcasts would be fun to learn more about because I think they can be a great teaching tool for teachers who can post them on line for students as a study guide or review tool. Also students could create them to show case what they have learned as they do with wikis. Also maybe more about how to use powerpoint. There are so many features and ways to create slides. I'm not very good at layout etc. This is a tool I'll definitely be using as a teacher all the time immediately.

  9. I learned so many new technology tools...but I would love to learn Photoshop or other photo/graphics applications. I will definitely use PowerPoint, Excel, and Gmail/Googledocs on a regular basis in the classroom.

  10. I see myself using Delicious, Google Docs, Scribd, Slideshare and Teacher Tube frequently in the future. They are great tools with a myriad of applications for educators! I would have liked to have gone more into how to create computer based games for use in the classroom. I thought that the crossword activity was great, I'm looking for more interactive games I could use for Science and Math.

  11. I see myself using the google docs and blogger most as an educator. as far as what I'd like to have learned... I suppose I would have liked to learn how to podcast

  12. I feel like I learned more than I ever imagined so I can't really think of anything I wish I would've learned. But I see myself using the Cool Tools For School wiki to get ideas of how to use cool technology tools in school!

  13. I would have like to create a class website. But I think I can figure it out on my own using the free Google stuff.

I love all the cool tools we have learned and will incorporate this stuff in my future classroom!

  14. I loved all the tools and concepts we learned about throughout this class. I wish we had learned a little more about podcasts. I imagine that I will be using blogs and googledocs in my immediate future...as well as create an imovie of my wedding this summer with still images, video, music, etc. And the best thing is that we won't have to pay someone to do this for us! This class saved my over $2000. What a deal!

  15. It was exciting to learn how easy it is to use digital technology in the classroom. The mac applications like iMovie and Photobooth are fun and students can easily use this technology to make creative projects. I would have like to learn how to create a basic website.

  16. I would love to learn how to create a website. Other than that I've learned so much from this class. I will use many of these applications in my teaching. I can't wait. Thank you very much for a great semester. You made it very educational and great fun!!

  17. I feel like you have gone over many different types of technologies and you were very informative. One piece of technology that I need to get better at and enhance my skills because it's such a complicated program, is Flash.

  18. I agree with AJ that I still don't know all the gadgets to my phone... like how to get music on it! But yeah, I definitely learned a lot in this class. I think just the sheer number of resources we've been introduced to is awesome.

  19. I have already used many of the awesome tools we've learned about in class. I created a blog for a youth group I run, as well as countless word documents. I am so excited about everything I've learned, and hope I will be able to incorporate many of these great tools into my future lesson plans.

  20. The things that I have learned in this class is so abundant that I could not even start to think of what else I could learn because everything so far has been very new to me. This class has definitely opened up my eyes to all the new technology out there. I see myself using blogging as a future educator. It is a great tool to use to keep students and parents updated and it also makes learning fun.

  21. I think that it would have been cool to learn how to make a website, but as JC already said, it might have been a little boring. I've learned so much this semester that I will definitely bring with me into the classroom. The blog and the newsletter are two things that I will definitely use.

  22. I learned so much from you in this class, and yet there are still so many more things out there that I could learn - many of which I don't even realize exist, which makes it hard for me to make suggestions on what I would have liked to have learned about. I suppose it would've been nice to learn how to use GoogleSites because I have tried and it is not NEARLY as user-friendly as its earlier counterpart GooglePages was. It also might have been nice to learn about some more applications of cell phone technology as it might correspond to classroom use (I really enjoyed that Poll Everywhere technology. It's such a neat idea!) Thanks for everything that you did teach us. I'm so excited to use all of the technologies we learned about this semester in my future classroom!

  23. I'm with Sarah- I'd probably use GoogleDocs and Blogger the most. I love the idea of having student blogs, and GoogleDocs is such a great tool for working on group projects and other collaborations. I would have loved to learn about podcasting, and although probably way too advanced for this course, basic java programming.
